Samanoğulları Devleti’nin başkanı ehil bir danışmanını itikatta imamımız Ebu Mansur Maturidi (v.944)’ye bir konu hakkında fikrini almak üzere göndermişti.
Danışman Semerkant’a geldi ve imamın nerede olduğunu araştırdı.
Komşuları mevsim yaz olduğu için O’nun bağında çalıştığını ifade ettiler.
Tarif edilen bağa giden görevli danışman İmam Maturidi’ye yaklaştı selam verdi ve edep gereği şu cümleyi kurdu:
—Mevlana’mız siz misiniz?
Mevlana çok büyük zatlar için yaygın olarak kullanılan bir saygı ifadesiydi.
İmam Maturidi cevap verdi:
—Bizim tek bir Mevla’mız vardır; o da Allah’tır.
Bu cevap üzerine danışman saygıda kusur etmemek için ikinci sorusunu sordu:
—Hoca efendi siz misiniz?
İmam Maturidi bu soruya şöyle karşılık verdi:
—Bizim tek bir hocamız vardır; o da Hz. Muhammed (s.a.v.)’dir.
Danışman için protokol kuralları sona ermişti, resmiyet bitmişti. Mecburen üçüncü samimiyet içeren soruya geçti:
—Ebu Mansur siz misiniz?
İmam Maturidi’nin bu soru hoşuna gitmişti; keyifle cevapladı:
—Evet! Ebu Mansur bu yaşlı, fakirdir.
Aslında İmam Maturidi bu kısa konuşmada bile itikatta ne kadar etkin, derin ve konuyu özümsemiş ve bizzat kendi üzerinde yaşadığını ortaya koymuştu.
Ebu Mansur Maturidi kaleme aldığı “Kitab’ut-Tevhid” ve “Tevilat’ül-Kur’an” kitaplarıyla Emevilerin tazyikiyle kuzeye gelen ehli beyt’ten aldığı eğitimle; önceki inanç ve kültürüne çok uygun bulduğu için hızla İslam’ın kabul eden Türk Milleti’nin asırları aşan sağlam çizgisi “Hanefi-Maturidi-Yesevi” ekolünün oluşumuna büyük katkı vermiştir.
Ebu Mansur Maturidi yukarıda kısaca verdiğimiz konuşma ile;
Mümin/Müslüman için tek Mevla’nın aşkın varlığımız Rabbimiz Allah’a;
Mümin/Müslüman için tek Hoca Efendi Peygamberimiz Hz. Muhammed (s.a.v.)’e;
Sonrasında ise bu iki sağlam kaynağa dayanarak her Mümin/Müslüman’ın üzerine “farz- ayn” olan ilmi tahsil etmek, sonra o ilmi amele dönüştürmek, ameli sadece Allah rızası için ihlasla yapmak zorunluluğu olduğunu ortaya koymuştur.
İslam’da “din insanları sınıfı yoktur/la ruhbaniyete fi’l-İslam”.
Aslında Hristiyanlık ve Yahudilik’te de yoktu, kendileri uydurdular. (Hadid/57/27)
O halde her Mümin/Müslüman;
Tek Mevla’sı olarak Allah’ı,
Tek Hoca Efendi’si olarak Hz. Muhammed’i bilerek diğer okuduğu her kitabı ve dinlediği her kişiyi bu iki mihengi öğrenerek ve o ikisine vurarak değerlendirmeli; Kur’an ve sahih sünnete uyanları almalı, uymayanları reddedecek bir birikime sahip olmalıdır.
Sultan Mehmet (1432-1481)’i “Fatih” yapan sürekli cönkünde/çantasında yanında taşıdığı dört kitaptan biri olan “Miftah’ul-Gayb” kitabının müellifi İslam Ümranı’nın zirve dönemi, Altın Çağı olan 13. Yüzyılda yaşayan doğu ve batıyı birleştirmiş büyük allame Sadreddin-i Konevi (1209-1274)’nin konuyu destekleyen cümlesi ile bitirelim:

Mevlana, Hoca Efendi and Others…
The head of the Samanid State sent a competent advisor to our imam of faith, Abu Mansur Maturidi (d. 944), to seek his advice on a matter.
The advisor arrived in Samarkand and inquired about the imam’s whereabouts.
His neighbors stated that, since it was summer, he was working in his vineyard.
The advisor, who went to the vineyard in question, approached Imam Maturidi, greeted him, and, as a matter of courtesy, said the following:
–Are you our Mawlana?
Mawlana was a commonly used term of respect for great figures.
Imam Maturidi replied:
–We have only one Mawlana; that is Allah.
Upon this answer, the advisor asked his second question, showing respect:
–Are you the Hodja Effendi?
Imam Maturidi responded as follows:
–We have only one teacher; that is, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The protocol rules and formalities were over for the consultant. He was forced to move on to the third sincere question:
–Are you Abu Mansur?
Imam Maturidi was amused by this question; he answered with pleasure:
–Yes! Abu Mansur is this old, poor man.
In fact, even in this short speech, Imam Maturidi demonstrated how effective and profound he was in faith, how deeply he had internalized the subject, and how he lived by it personally.
With his books “Kitab al-Tawhid” and “Tevilat al-Qur’an,” Abu Mansur Maturidi, with the education he received from the Ahl al-Bayt who came to the north under Umayyad oppression, made a significant contribution to the formation of the “Hanafi-Maturidi-Yesavi” school, the centuries-long, solid line of the Turkish Nation, which quickly embraced Islam because it found it very compatible with its previous beliefs and culture.
In the speech we briefly presented above, Abu Mansur Maturidi stated:
For the believer/Muslim, the only God is our transcendent being, our Lord, Allah;
The only Hodja Effendi for a believer/Muslim is our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him);
Then, based on these two reliable sources, he established that every believer/Muslim is obligated to acquire knowledge, which is “farzayn” (obligatory), then to translate that knowledge into practice, sincerely performing it solely for the sake of God.
In Islam, there is “no class of religious people/la clergyman fi’l-Islam.”
In fact, there was no such class in Christianity and Judaism; they invented them. (Al-Hadid/57/27)
Therefore, every believer/Muslim should;
Knowing God as their One Lord and Muhammad as their One Hodja Effendi, evaluate every book they read and every person they listen to by learning and comparing these two criteria. They should embrace those that conform to the Quran and the authentic Sunnah and possess the knowledge to reject those that do not.
Let’s conclude with a statement from the great scholar Sadreddin Konevi (1209-1274), who united the East and West during the 13th century, the Golden Age of the Islamic Umran, and author of “Miftah’ul-Ghayb,” one of the four books he constantly carried in his bag, making Sultan Mehmed (1432-1481) the “Fatih” (Conqueror):
“Knowledge that does not derive its evidence from the Quran and Sahih Hadith will not lead you to knowledge.”
