Dünya tarihini incelediğimizde asla değişmeyen kural şudur:
Kütüphanesinde ne çok kitap bulunduran millet, gelişmenin de zirvesindedir.
İskenderiye, Şam, Bağdat, Semerkant, Buhara, Konya, İstanbul, Londra ve Washington…
Bireysel veya millet olarak çıkış yapmak istiyorsak ilk başvurmamız gereken kapı kitap sayısını çoğaltmak.
Üç okumak, iki dinlemek, bir yazmak ve bazen konuşmak…
Önce dünyanın çalıştığımız alandaki birikimine sahip olmak, sonrasında o birikime katkıda bulunmaya çalışmak.
Peki, okurken neye dikkat edeceğiz?
Mantıkta kesin ve doğru bilgi tedarikine dair şöyle bir kural vardır:
“Eşya zıddıyla bilinir.”
“Diyalektik” dediğimiz bilginin zıddıyla birlikte ele alınması Kur’an-ı Kerim’in de metodudur.
İnsana yöneten epistemolojinin ikili bir sistem üzere bina edildiğini Allah belirtir:
“İnsana ve onu düzgün bir biçimde şekillendirene, Sonra da ona kötülük(fücur) ve iyilik(takva) kabiliyeti/eğilimi ilham edene and olsun ki, Kim kendini geliştirip (manevi kirlerden) arındırırsa, o kesinlikle ebedi mutluluğa ulaşacaktır.” Şems, 91/7-9.
“İlim müminin yitiğidir. Onu Çin’de de olsa alır.” Sözü ile Peygamberimiz (s.a.v.) bilginin evrenselliğine dikkat çekmiştir.
Çünkü ayette ifade edilen çift yönlü akış(takva/fücur) kıyamete kadar devam edecek ve sadece takvayı bilmekle takvalı olunmayacak, fücurunda ne olduğu anlaşılması gerekecektir.
“Çağların bağları çift yönlüdür. Şimdinin anlaşılmaması kaçınılmaz şekilde, geçmiş hakkındaki cehaletten kaynaklanmaktadır. Fakat, eğer şimdiki zaman hakkında hiçbir şey bilmiyorsak, geçmişi anlamak için kendini tüketmek de belki aynı derecede boş olabilir.” Marc Bloch (1886-1944)
Çağların bağlarını o zamanların kitaplarını okuyarak çözebilir ve o çözdüğümüz bağlarla bugün yürüyeceğimiz ümran köprüsünü kurabiliriz.

Texts That Orient Us/West
The first and most important condition for development and progress is the wealth of books read/written.
The rule that never changes when we study world history is this:
The nation that has so many books in its library is at the peak of development.
Alexandria, Damascus, Baghdad, Samarkand, Bukhara, Konya, Istanbul, London and Washington…
If we want to exit individually or as a nation, the first thing we need to apply is to increase the number of door books.
Three to read, two to listen, one to write and sometimes to speak…
First, to have the world’s knowledge in the field we work in, and then to try to contribute to that knowledge.
So, what should we pay attention to while reading?
In logic, there is a rule regarding the supply of precise and correct information:
“The item is known for its opposite.”
Handling the knowledge we call “dialectic” together with its opposite is also the method of the Qur’an.
Allah states that the epistemology that governs human beings is built on a dual system:
“By the one who shapes him properly and then inspires him with the ability/tendency for evil (fucur) and good (taqwa), whoever develops and purifies himself (from spiritual impurities), he will certainly attain eternal happiness.” Shams, 91/7-9.
“Knowledge is the believer’s loss. He’ll get it if it’s in China.” With his words, our Prophet (pbuh) drew attention to the universality of knowledge.
Because the two-way flow (taqwa/fücur) expressed in the verse will continue until the Day of Judgment, and it will not be taqwa to know only by knowing taqwa, but it will be necessary to understand what is in taqwa.
“The bonds of the ages are bidirectional. Failure to understand the present inevitably stems from ignorance about the past. But if we know nothing about the present, it may be just as futile to exhaust oneself to understand the past.” Marc Bloch (1886-1944)
We can untie the bonds of the ages by reading the books of those times, and with the bonds we have untied, we can build the bridge of umran on which we will walk today.
I would like to recommend my readers to read the series of books that they must read in accordance with the sentences I have formed above.
The books “Texts Guiding Us and Texts Guiding the West” published by Kapadokya University Press and edited by Alev Alatlı are a good source for getting to know the east and the west.
If you cannot live today without understanding the past and leave no trace of tomorrow.
So, start reading from the first volume of the book “Texts Guiding Us”…
